Tampon Safety

At my annual, my gyn started talking about tampon safety since I haven't been using them all that long.  She was talking about using the lightest absorbancy you need and said that it should protect your for 1-2 hours, 3 at most.  She then said they shouldn't be worn overnight unless its an unusual thing like a camping trip.

Well I thought I was already playing it safe... I use slimfits and take it out after no more than 5 or 6 hours.  I have a light flow from the pill so changing it more frequently would mean its going to be more dry and more uncomfortable to remove.  I don't wear one overnight.  I really enjoy that it gets me mostly through the day at work without the inconvenience of changing.

Is my gyn right?

Hi Annette and welcome to the board.

Your gyn is right in the respect that you should definitely use the lowest absorbancy possible and you shouldn't leave a tampon in for an extended period of time.
