Question re: Pain/Cut on Vulva

Hi,

For a couple of months now, I've been experiencing some pain. Upon further examination, I have discovered a small cut on what I believe would be considered my clitoral hood. It is a tiny, open cut from the top of my clitoris to the very base of my mons. It has been an on-again, off-again issue for a couple of months now and I am getting concerned. It causes a considerable deal of pain, especially during urination and sometimes even during sex.

My best guess is that it is the product of dry, irritated skin that one day broke open and, due to the cut's position on my body, is having a hard time heal. I don't think it is related to any sort of STI, as I have been examined and tested in the last 4 months and have had no change in my sexual activity. I find relief after I apply petroleum jelly, but the relief doesn't last for long.

Does anyone know what my problem may be, or, better yet, what I can do to fix it?

Thank you very much!

Welcome to the board.

It certainly sounds like a tear which can be very painful and sometimes difficult to heal.

It can be possible that you might have a slight yeast infection (I got cuts down there when I had one) you might want to try those over-the-counter cremes especially for yeast infections. They have three day treatments and seven day ones too. But for you to know for shure you should go to a gynecologist or the clinic so they can take a sample of your discharge and look at it under the microscope.
