Change of pill; period for over 2 weeks!

Hi all,

I'm not sure where to start,  but I'll try to make the background as short and as informative as possible.

I started on the pill at 17 b/c of very heavy, painful, long periods (a curse mom my mom was able to escape -  but she thought I was going on BC due to sex, and that was NOT the truth).  I'm now almost 36 and have been on about 7-8 different pills ever since about 1990.  Got prego in 2000 and have one very healthy son- no issues there.  Skip to today - I'm on the pill and also have a script for Flexeril (muscle relaxer) to help with cramps (had the Flexeril since about 1999).  About 2 years ago the PMS symptoms started getting worse..... HORRIBLY painful an long periods, etc.  They did an ultrasound to see if I had fibroids or some other issue - nothing showed up.  Bad genes I guess...  So last year my gyno put me on Seasonique - just to lessen the PMS issues to once every 3 months rather than every month - didn't work.  I still got ALLLLLL the symptoms, but without the period.  At my last visit, I told him so..

He put me on a new pill - Loestrin 35 and told me to take in continuously so I don't get a period at all.  Well, I've been on the new pill for about 6 weeks and all was great up up until about 2.5 weeks ago.  I started having spotting, which he said was normal, but I've had a flat-out period for like 2 weeks!  I called their office and talked to his nurse. She said my only other alternatives were an IUD, another pill or a hysterectomy.  I'm not sure what to do at this point.

My main reason for calling was to see if that after changing to this new pill you get your P for a LONG time before your body synch's in and you don't get it at all.

Any suggestions?  ALL WELCOME - PLEASE! :-)

Hi stray_daisy and welcome to the board.

It isn't unusual, when making a change in hormonal birth control, for your body to take 2-3 months to adjust.

Honestly I think a full-blown period for 3 weeks is pretty excessive.
