Spotting with Monistat? TMI
| Fri, 06-13-2008 - 12:40pm |
I started monistat on Tuesday night to treat my yeast infection. I bought the 7 pack because the 3 pack did not work for me. It is the creme with the applicators. Wednesday I started getting weird light pink bleeding that I only noticed when I wiped. Thursday some of the light pink made it on a pad, but a very small amount. Now I have been noticing that I see the light pink more when I am pushing to have a bowel movement (I know, TMI, SORRY!!), and I also have been noticing a little clump of something (which I assume is the monistat!?! its usually white with some pink). I was supposed to get my period on the 9th and this is nothing like my period. I also have been having some cramping like my period is coming. Is this just a weird period or has this happened to anyone else?!?

Welcome to the board.
It's quite common to get some spotting with Monistat. It causes some irritation to the cervix, which causes some bleeding, but unless you are feeling some unpleasant symptoms, aside from the yeast infection, it's nothing to worry about. The white clumpy stuff you see when you go to the bathroom will be the Monistat being expelled as your pelvic muscles contract.
The cramping could very well be a sign that your period is on it's way. It's quite common for ovulation to be delayed for any number of reasons, including illness, stress, sudden weight loss or weight gain. If it hasn't shown up a week after it's due, and there is a chance you could be pregnant, you might want to test just to rule that out.
