Cramping/pain after cryoablation

Hi.... I have serveral fibroids that have been causing me troubles for a while. I can not take any BCP or hormones so Thursday morning I got Cryoablation treatment. I really want to avoid hysterectomy. Problem is I have a lot of cramps still. I don't know if this is normal 2 days later. I did not have natural childbirth and my cervix still hurts as well. Has anyone had this and had success? If this doesn't work I have to get a hysterectomy due to the anemia and severe cramping I get from the fibroids. The discharge has started and I'm due for a period Monday or Tuesday. Fun (not!!)

A friend will come bail you out of jail, but a best friend will be sitting next to you saying "WE screwed up, but man we had fun"!

hi hummingbird_1968, welcome to the board.

I'd say it's completely normal to be having cramps and still have a sore cervix only two days later. Cryoablation essentially burns the inside of the uterus, so it needs time to recover, and the muscles will cramp against that. And as you said, you had never had a natural childbirth, so the cervix will be sensitive from being stretched out.

Give it a few more days, and you should start to see some improvement.

A cryoablation won't prevent your fibroids from coming back, but it will hopefully reduce the bleeding you experience, since the lining of your uterus won't be able to grow back as much. It may be that you do have to have a hysterectomy.

Hope you start to feel better soon.

Well since I'm 40 and in perimenopause, we thought this option would be best since fibriods tend to go away after menopause and this way I get to keep my hormones.

Hi again,

Yes, fibroids are often associated with estrogen, so as your estrogen levels drop during menopause, the fibroids slowly shrink and disappear. That said, it will depend on how long you are in perimenopause before hitting menopause as to how well this goes.

I was hoping that manoangeliukai might have popped in to give her experience, but I don't know when she last posted. She seems to have had success with fibroids and an ablation, but last I read, after a couple of years the bleeding was slowly increasing again (but still a lot better than previously).

Because you had the cryoablation so close to your period, you should hopefully find that this period is a lot lighter, since the lining has been burnt out so close to your period, and the cramps shouldn't be any worse, fingers crossed.
