I am back, with an update from a previous post about mid-cycle spotting/bleeding. New ob/gyn listened very thoroughly to everything, and after lots of discussion (particularly about me NOT wanting to go on BC again) decided to try Prometrium for 10 days each month to see if it will cease the mid-cycle spotting. (I am also having an ultrasound to examine some cysts and a follow up Pap, since i had an abnormal one in January).
So far, it is working. (on day 3). I am crampy, nauseaus, and tired, but no spotting!. I will hope this works until the end of the 10 days - and then am curious to see when I will get my period? And will it be worse than usual if the Prometrium is helping to build/sustain the lining? (Periods were already getting pretty heavy and painful.)
Another question - is Prometrium a maintenance drug? I forgot to ask her. Will I be doing this for 10 days every month from now on? Or will this just trick my body back into behaving after a few months and I will go off it? I hope it isn't like with BC pills where your body gets thrown completely out of whack when you stop taking it. I am also not looking forward to this nausea every month, but maybe my body will get used to the increased hormones and next month won't be so bad?
ETA: Day 4 of the Prometrium (Day 25 of my cycle) and I am spotting. What gives?

Thanks to Kris for the awesome sig!! xoxo
