Hi everyone,
I just found out from my gyn on Monday that I tested positive for Chlamydia. I was being treated for weeks for bacterial infections / yeast infection to no avail. Finally I came back in and told her I was still having problems and just didn’t feel right so she did a full testing on me for all the std's. Sure enough, it turned out I tested positive for Chlamydia. She then prescribed a "blast" dose of Zithromax, which not even 15 minutes after I took it gave me diarrhea. Anyway, now 3 days after that big dose I'm feeling a burning sensation down below. I just called and spoke to the dr, and she said the antibiotic probably now caused a yeast infection and so she's calling in some cream for that, and I'm supposed to come in and see her this coming Wednesday to get re-checked. I have some questions, as I've never dealt with Chlamydia before…
1. Since I had diarrhea right after taking the antibiotic, does that mean its not in my system anymore to treat the disease? Im guessing no because I'm reading that this antibiotic commonly causes stomach problems
2. Does that make sense that the antibiotic could've caused a yeast infection?
3. Can chlamydia live outside the body? This is embarrassing, but say if you were using something such as a vibrator when you were with the person you contracted it from, should you throw it away? Could the Chlamydia bacteria live on hard plastic like that? (I know it’s a strange question)
I don’t know, this feels like such a dirty disease, and now that I'm getting symptoms even from the cure, I just feel like I'm never gonna get back to normal down there, you know?

Hi jetsluvr!
Sorry to hear you got a diagnosis or chlamydia, but on the positive side, you should finally start feeling better with the proper treatment.

Lisa gave you good advice.
I just wanted to add, make sure you get re-checked to make sure the chlamydia has cleared out of your system. Sometimes the Zithromax doesn't get it all the first time around (I can tell you from experience), especially as it sounds like you've had the infection for a while.
Make sure you practise safe sex, and make sure your partner, or ex-partner gets treated as well.
Take probiotics to help your body fend off yeast infections, and help recover from the antibiotics.
