I was in the ER last night because all of a sudden I got this horrible pain on my right side starting in my ovary and going all the way up into my ribs. It hurt sit, walk around and go to use the muscles I need to go to the bathroom. I felt like I was dying. I have been diagnosed with pcos and endometriosis for 9 years now. They did an ultrasound last night and found I had to large cysts. One of them is your everyday cyst that every woman gets. The other one is called a complex ovarian cyst. I didn't know what it was until I got home and researched it on the web. That was enough to freak me out. I was too out of it last night when the doctor explained to me what type of cyst it was and what exactly that meant. They had given me morphine. I was wondering if anybody here has experienced this and was wondering if you had to have surgery. I'm scared, because I don't have any health insurance and I'm in so much pain. The ER referred me to a ob/gyn, but they want payment up front. The doctor's office estimated that it would cost at least $600. I can't come up with that much money. Any advice/experiences would be helpful. Thank you so much. I just want the pain to stop.

Hi there, welcome to the board.
Unfortunately complex cysts usually require surgery to be removed. This is because if they burst they can cause serious complications, which can result in a loss of ovary. Complex cysts can sometimes cause the ovary to twist around on the fallopian tube. It must be quite serious if they gave you morphine for the pain - most women aren't that lucky.
I suggest you ring the obgyn's office and see if there is any chance of you arranging a payment plan with them, and finding out the likely cost of surgery for this, and if you can have a payment plan for that also. Because there is a reasonable chance that you will end up having surgery whether you want to or not, you're better off looking into the options available to you.
I have called so many ob/gyn office near to my house and can't find any that will agree to a payment plan or who are low income. I've been searching since morning 6/23. I do have an appointment with my pcp tomorrow. I'm still in so much pain. It's hardly bearable. My psychiatrist just adjusted my meds which cause drowsiness and I was sleeping well at night, but now I can't sleep. This pain came on so suddenly. I was just checking my email after swimming in the pool, and all of the sudden it felt like someone was stabbing me. I hurt to sit, walk and stand. They did a transvaginal ultrasound at the hospital and that hurt so bad it brought me to tears. I wish they would have done a gyno consult while I was at the hospital. If I need surgery, I would rather them do it sooner than later. I can't take this pain. I also feel weak and have been dealing nausea. I wanted to get a copy of my discharge summary and radiology report from the hospital I went to so that I could take it with me next week when I go to visit my family in Nebraska. I've only been living in Texas for 3 months. I want to go see my family doctor. The hospital wants to charge me $1.35 per page of my hospital record. I just want the pain to
