2 cervices, bicornuate uterus & pregnant
| Thu, 06-26-2008 - 1:04am |
I have a bicornuate uterus, 2 cervices (cervix) and had a vaginal septum removed when I was 16 years old. I am now pregnant, 6 weeks as far as I can tell, first appointment is next week. I understand I am high risk, but I almost feel as though people are simply preparing me for the worst rather than providing any hope. I have read many stories of women with a bicornuate uterus doing fine, however they do not mention the other anomalies I have.
Anyone out there that has similar anomalies that had a successful pregnancy????
Katie

Hi there,
As Lisa said, there is an increased risk of miscarriage, but there are plenty of healthy pregnancies as well. A woman that used to post here has a bicornuate uterus and didn't have any problems.
As long as you take it easy during your pregnancy, and the doctors keep monitoring you closely, your chances of having a healthy baby will be higher. Just remember that this isn't a "typical" pregnancy, and that you have to be more careful.
