Hello,
For the last 10 years it has been impossible to have sex with my husband. It actually started much earlier which lead to not having sex for 10 years.
Insertion is agonizing!
My last pregnancy was 18 years ago. While carrying him I had a host of serious problems and died 2x's after giving birth.
Over the years that followed, I found having sex to be more and more painful!
I had a DNC in 2007 and was told everything was fine!
However the reason I had a DNC was because the Dr. was unable to complete a PAP in her office. I was screaming and crying it hurt so bad! This is not the first Dr. to have to see for herself just how painful it was for me!
As a child I was always sick with colds, flu's, etc etc. however; I had several other problems taking place as well.
Prior to ever having my period i had been rushed to the Hosp. at least 6x's a year for pain in my right side. My parents and our family Dr. thought it was appendicitis.
I am still having to live with this pain and i am now 52 years old. It is pretty constant now. In the past, blood tests have always come back with a high WBC. I never have vomiting (in my early years), and never have high fevers. I usually had low grade fevers like down to 94!
These were ignored!
I started my period around the age of 14... They were every 21 days and lasted for exactly 7 days. Every other month... after my period... i would experience gawd awful pain in my right side as well. Later I found out I was having ovulation. It use to feel like someone was ripping my insides... out, with their bare hands! I was once informed I should consider myself lucky to know when I ovulate. Yep, that helped with the pain!
When I began menopause in 2003 I developed this horrid smelling... greenish, reddish. blackish discharge. This would come out in globs. It is not a constant discharge. It happens about 4-6 times a day and sometimes I can feel it leaving my body! Sometimes it sends tiny little pains in the area it is exiting. Which always reminded me of when you would have that unexpected... gush... during my periods.
The DR. that did the DNC, said she could not locate the discharge. I finally took her in one of my pads (in a baggie) and showed her what I have been living with. I once again informed her it smells to high heaven! She took me at my word and refused to smell it. (I dont blame her).
I was diagnosed with a tilted cervix about 13-14 years ago. Some Dr.s have confirmed this diag. others have never uttered a word.
I had my left ovary and gallbladder removed a few years back because they (Dr's) thought they might contribute to the pain. The left ovary had a cyst on it... according to the Dr. it could radiate on the right side. At this point in time I am game for anything to stop this pain.
When I went for a follow up I informed him I still had the pain in my side! He nervously chuckled and cited... "I guess I am in big trouble now!" He promptly lost my file!
It's a big mystery why Sex is soooo painful I am informed.
I love sex! I married a man that loves it as much as I do! I want to have sex again! I miss it terribly!
Don't write to me and tell me there are other ways of having sex with your partner... I want and need to have intercourse with my husband!
The last time I was in the hosp. for pain in my right side, it took 5 nurses to hold me down to do an internal! I will never go through that again NEVER! I will never have anther pap! NEVER!
Any idea's?

Hi there,
You might want to consult a vulva specialist. It's possible you have a condition which is known as vulvodynia. Vulvodynia has various causes of this condition - sometimes it is due to a physical problem, sometimes it is psychological (which can be caused by the physical issue).
Also, is there a chance of vaginal dryness? Having experienced it myself, I can tell you that it is horrifically painful when it's bad.
You might want to check out these links and see if they are along the lines of what you are experiencing:
