uti & sex ?

Hi,

I have urea plasma, and ive been put on anti biotics. My doctor said this is what the cause of the uti could be and why it is not going away.

Its so frustrating! Im taking ural but its not really working too well... Is there anything else i can take that may help a bit ?

Also, Is it a bad idea to have sex while i have this uti ? Will it make it worse, or will it be painful for me ? Also, would i pass it onto my boyfriend ? If we had sex, or oral sex ? Because if we do something - that is the last thing i want to do, is to pass it onto him!!

Thanks very much.

Hi angel.

I gave you some information and the link to a great article in this response: http://messageboards.ivillage.com/n/mb/message.asp?webtag=iv-bhgynconcern&msg=16827.2&ctx=0

The following information is from the article I linked in the above response:

Ureaplasma species may be transmitted by direct contact between hosts (ie, venereally through genital-to-genital or oral-to-genital contact)

Mycoplasma species do not cause vaginitis, but they may proliferate in patients with bacterial vaginosis and may contribute to the condition. M hominis has been isolated from the endometria and fallopian tubes of approximately 10% of women with salpingitis; M genitalium may also be involved in pelvic inflammatory disease and cervicitis.

From the sounds of it, abstaining from sex until this infection is cleared would be a good idea.
