can't stand the pain any longer

ok, here's the story...
i just had a baby wednesday (july 16), and i had hoped that the pain in my pubic bone would have gone away after delivering her. for nearly the last 2 months of my pregnancy i experienced some pretty intense aching and shooting pain in my pubic area. my doctor told me there wasn't much to be done about it, but did recommend seeing a chiropractor to get some relief while waiting for my due date.

so wednesday i delivered, and realize that it takes time to heal, but now the pain is worse. it feels like my bones are separating further when i sit, even on a soft chair. i can hardly walk, i can't lay on my side- it puts too much pressure on my hips and feels like they're collapsing in. it hurts to have unevenly distributed weight from leg to leg. i can't lift up one leg even slightly off the ground. i have to keep equal pressure on both legs, or i nearly fall.

before i was discharged form the hospital i asked my dr about it and again he suggested seeing a chiropractor first. i was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and maybe had suggestions. i think i need an x-ray to see if there is an injury from pregnancy/birth. but then, even if i am diagnosed with a stress fracture or soemthing, is there anything that can be done about it?? would i just be wasting my time seeking treatment?? should i just wait it out and hope it heals on it's own?

I had SPD during my last pregnancy. I got by with certain exercises but only because I didn't have the money to see a chiro. I would echo your doctor's recommendation and see a chiro. Here is a pretty informative article on SPD http://www.plus-size-pregnancy.org/pubicpain.htm

thanks. i am feeling a little better, even though i havent been to a chiropracter yet. i plan on going this week. i am making phone calls to local chiropracters to see which one knows the most about this sort of thing....hopefully i will find someone who has had success in treating other gals with this problem.
