Corpus Luteum cyst...or appendix?!

Hello!
I am a little confused about this....
On Wed. I went to my PCP, with some bloating, tenderness and just uncomfortable feeling in my stomach, I thought he was going to say I had some sort of IBS thing... it actually started a few days prior and was quite painful..anyway, those symptoms are not normal for me. He was pushing on my stomach, and in the lower right quadrant, it was more painful than other parts, especially on the rebound. He suspected early appendicitis. I was sent for a CAT scan of my abdomen right away. The radiologist actually came looking for me and said my appendix was ruptured, and they needed to do an U/S to make sure it wasn't involving the ovary. He said the ovary was normal, and that I was going to need surgery later that day. I went to the ER, where I had my CAT images in hand, and talked to the surgeon. He looked at the images with the radiologist there, and they felt it wasn't my appendix, to be sure, I had another CAT scan...but with oral contrast, not IV. I also didn't have a fever or elevated white count. They said it was basically the same as the prior scan I had that day. They admitted me, and wanted to do a pelvic sono in the morning. After I had that, they said they really couldn't see the appendix that well, but I had a corpus luteum cyst. They asked me when my last period was and started to ask if I was pregnant...which, this is a little past mid cycle, I had my lmp on 7/8. Also, I did have a baby in December. So, they told me to follow up with my gyn, and also the surgeon this week. I had a little fluid in the uterus they said, and some around the ovary, and where the appendix "should" be. The night I was discharged, I had diarrhea and was soooo nauseous. That continued until this morning actually. Still I am nauseous, and extremely tired! The PCP seemed a little confused with the whole situation....I am following up with my doctors this week, but I wanted to know if anyone had a similar experience or has had a corpus luteum cyst? I was still getting some cramping, even into today, and the dr called something in to my pharmacy for it....
So my final diagnosis leaving the hospital was....
"We THINK you had a cyst that may have ruptured, and have a corpus luteum cyst, we don't THINK it was the appendix"
Isn't this confusing!?
Thank you in advance for your support/advice!!!!

Hi there,
My understanding of appendicitis is that it has the potential to cause death if left untreated. At the bare minimum, you would need to be on antibiotics to stop the spread of infection. I highly doubt you would be well enough to be doing anything if it were a ruptured appendix.

I would say that it was indeed a ruptured cyst, but if you start feeling sick, develop a fever, or the pain intensifies, get to the ER.
