D&C in future, What ??s should I ask?

Howdy all.

I have an appt scheduled (this coming Wed) w/ my GYNO to discuss the results of my pelvic/transvag ultrasound.  A polyp was found in endometrium, along w/ thickened endo.  They couldn't find my ovaries (bashful?  shy?).

I'm closing in on 45 (less than a month!), have been having horrible periods (long, heavy, clotting), was on BC pills for years, got off them due to financial reasons and no sex, about a year or so ago I mentioned to Dr about interest in 3 month pill.  I was on Seasonique for almost a year.  Had a small bit of breakthru bleeding midway thru packet, but recently have had a period for 5 weeks -- to varying degrees.   When I stand at work, I can feel clots passing (sorry, TMI).  I go thru about 12 "mattress" pads (Kotex extra duty ones) in a day on the worst days.

So my question to you (and if I should post it elsewhere, another board, please let me know) is what questions should I ask?  I'm going to have a list, and write down answers, etc.

Her nurse mentioned that uterine cancer is the worst case scenario and they like to assume the worse and work backwards.

I'm not panicked, but it is starting to weigh on my mind some.

Care to share your experiences and/or questions that I should know about?  I believe in forearmed is forewarned, so the more prepared I am, the better for me.

Thanks in advance,
Mia

Hi Mia,

Here's a page on D&Cs, with a list of questions for asking your gyn about:

A thickened endometrial lining can occur for a few reasons. The risk of cancer heightens the longer the lining stays thick, or continues to build up. Hopefully this hasn't been a long term thing in your situation, and is easily sorted out with the D&C. What have your periods been like after the three month interval on Seasonique?
