bacteria and risks...

So there is a lot of hype about group b strep during pregnancy...my question is what about AFTER pregnancy. From what I understand, anyone at any given time can have the bacteria and never know it. So here is where I am a little worried. Sex for me has now become a chore, something I almost dread for this simple reason: I have a 5 month old, and 2 year old and I'm so worried that DH will be careless after sex/foreplay and touch a door knob or tv remote etc. Does this virus live outside of the body? I live a very clean, almost obsessively clean lifestyle, constantly washing my hands, but he does not. Do I need to be worried that my kids could come into contact with the bacteria from some object? It says it poses great risk for the elderly and babies...am I being too overprotective? I'm just tired of running around with the lysol spray and always doing loads of laundry after sex!

Hi there,
As far as I can tell, since your children are not newborns, and didn't get the infection shortly after birth, then they should be fine.
