Hi everyone,
I have an update on my post below. I have a history of abnormal paps due to HPV. One after another is abnormal, then same old story... Colposcopy, repeat pap, blah blah blah. Well, back in April the dr finally decided it was time for me to have a LEEP to try and stop this madness. I went back last week for my first pap since the LEEP, and it came back abnormal. I was in tears over this. I just felt so hopeless, like i'm on this rollercoaster ride that's never going to end. She said I had to have yet another painful colposcopy. Also, while I was having the colpo, she said that the second she even TOUCHED my cervix with the cotton swab that I bled. She said that was cervicitis and she gave me some antibiotic cream for that.
So I just spoke to the dr and got my results. I'm confused. She said the colposcopy came back ok, that its just chronic inflammation. I also had my 3 month battery of STD tests done at that time (including HIV) that also came back negative (thank god)... But she said they want me to still have the cryosurgery done because they want to be aggressive given my history and try to avoid this from keeping on happening. I'm confused. Does this mean they found something bad on my colpo? Does that make sense to do a cryosurgery as a precaution?
Please advise...

OMG i just got a phone call from my dr too.
my colopsy (sp) came back abnormal too she said due to the hpv virus. I am sick to my stomach i had this test performed in 04 and it came back just showing inflamation which i was so shocked it did not this time. She said i could wait 6 months and re pap and he would do another co at the same time or i can do the cryotheraphy. i have been married for 16 yrs and with my husband for 19 i can not believe i have a sexual disease i am sick!
I am going to do the cryotherapy just because i know i cannot wait around thinking about this anymore i have 2 young boys. She also said if i can do the cop this will be nothing like that. Please write to again i feel so sad and gross! I am also wondering does my husband need to do anything about this i forgot to ask her.
Hi there,
No, it doesn't sound like they found anything bad on the colpo, but are just wanting to do the cryo as a precaution. Since you have a history of bad paps and a heap of invasive procedures, if the cryo can help stop that from happening, then it will be a small blessing, I'm sure!
Hopefully the antibiotics will clear up the cervicitis. One thing to note: birth control pills can cause changes in the cervix which can cause the cervix to have inflammation and bleeding.
Hi there,
HPV can lie dormant in your body for years before you develop any symptoms. Some women will never develop symptoms. Once you have HPV, there's no cure to get it out of your system.
There's nothing that your husband needs to do, since HPV only affects men if it is a strain that causes genital warts. Men are simply carriers of the virus, otherwise.
