Yeast Infection & Dyfulcan

so i had an appointment scheduled for a colposcopy on tuesday morning.  on monday (the holiday) i noticed i had a yeast infection.  i didn't want to take any chances with my appointment the next morning so i didn't use any medication.  at my colposcopy i told the Dr and she confirmed i did have some yeast and gave me a prescription for dyflucan.  in the past this medication hasn't worked for me but i thought she prescribed me 2 pills (one that day and another 3 days later) that maybe this time would be different.  so she used the vinegar like normal in a colposcopy appointment and after she tried to clean it out a little so i wouldn't be so irritated down there.  i had my prescription filled and immediately took the first pill and within the next couple of hours the infection seemed to get worse.. maybe because of my appointment who knows... but i figure just wait it out.. well last night was 2.5 days later and i couldn't take it anymore.. i cant take my other pill until tomorrow but last night i was soooo uncomfortable that i used an over the counter cream and what do you know.. i had instant relief.  do i still take my prescribed pill tomorrow?  do i finish off the 3 day cycle of monistat?

does dyflucan not work for anyone else?

Hi buterflyhzleyes.

I think it is pretty unusual for the Diflucan/fluconazole to not work.

Hi there,

Just wanted to follow up. When the doctor did the colpo, it probably allowed the yeast to take hold in that area, and since it was already sensitive tissue from the colpo, the yeast would have invaded that with vigor. Horrible, yes. I hope that you started to feel relief after the second dose of Diflucan and the cream.
