Does this sound like a cyst rupturing??

Last night, just out of the blue I got this horrible stabbing, almost ripping pain in my lower stomach, right about where my ovary would be, at times the pain felt more in my back, at others, more in my stomach, and sometimes it hurt on both sides.. It hurt SOOO soooo bad!! I honestly thought that maybe my IUD had ruptured my uterus so I staggered to the bathroom and checked the strings, they were right where I left them. ;-) So I staggered back to the couch and sat down and tried to breath through the pain.. I was just about to the point of telling dh to take me to the ER when it just STOPPED.. (From beginning to end it was about 5-10 minutes.) All that horrible pain just stopped and all that was left was a very dull ache that lasted maybe an hour.. And then nothing, it was just like nothing had ever happened.. No bleeding or spotting, just nothing! It was the strangest thing because one moment I thought I was dying I was in so much pain and then it just stopped!! I do know I had/have a cyst on my right ovary, and earlier in the day I had some aching on my right side.. The only thing I can think of is that either that cyst ruptured and I was feeling the pain on my left side, or there was a cyst on my left side that I didn't know about and that ruptured.. Does this sound logical??

Beck, it sure sounds like it could be a ruptured cyst to me.

It very much sounds like a ruptured cyst. After you ovulate sometimes the follicle that the egg was in does not break down,it fills with different things(there are a few kinds of cysts). But eventually they rupture or just go away. The sensation you described is normal .There are things you should beware of though that are not.About a year and a half ago I had a stabbing pain in my right side out of the blue-it doubled me over.I wasn't worried because I was pre-menstruel so I lay down and it went away within about 10 min.But when I got up I couldn't stand up all the way because of the pain, but when I would lay back down I was ok.this went on for about 4 hours and I was feeling really odd like my blood pressure was low(I have hi bld pressure)so I took it and it was low.Awhile later I was getting shooting pains thru my shoulder-I thought I was having a heart attack,so I finally went to er.I was admitted and had emergency surgery because I had a cyst on my ovary that ruptured and took out a blood vessel and my abdominal cavity was filling with blood. So if pain persists in the future dont mess around-you could die from this! It's a fluke, but it can & does happen.
