I ovulated a week before my period?
| Fri, 09-26-2008 - 12:01am |
I suspect I ovulate a week before my period. For one thing, the one time I got pregnant (and miscarried), the conception could only have occurred the week before I was suppose to get my period. Could it be that I actually ovulate a week before I get my periods?
By the way, my uterine lining and hormone levels were healthy during my pregnancy- the cause of the miscarriage is not know with certainty.

Hi maydove2003.
While most women ovulate somewhere near the middle of their cycle, it is possible for you to be ovulating late in your cycle.

It would be beneficial to start charting so you know for sure. If you are trying to conceive then you should make sure you are ovulating at least 10 days before the start of your period. You can use a free charting website like fertilityfriend.
Other than TTC late ovulation should not cause you any harm.
It is possible. The problem with a short luteal phase (i.e., the time between ovulation and period is less than 10 days) is that it may not leave enough time for a fertilized egg to implant. But it's a good sign that implantation was able to occur in the past. There are things that can be done to increase your luteal phase if it is causing problems with TTC, but you should find out first whether that is the case.
My luteal phase length increased on its own, so I can't really give much advice on that. I've heard that B6 supplements and/or taking progesterone after ovulation can help, but you should talk to your doctor for more information.
