Please help - vaginal tear

Hi there.  This is the first time I have ever posted anything on this website, but I am looking for some opinions/suggestions as to what I am supposed to do.  I have been with my husband for 12 years and for the past year or so, whenever we have sex, it would sting in the beginning, then I'm always bleeding a little bit afterwards.  I talked to my gynecologist about this in February and she said she didn't see anything, so just make sure I stay lubricated.  Did that, but no change.  I did notice about 2 months ago that there is a tear underneath the perineum (opening).  I put neosporin on this and it heals, but every time we have sex it hurts, and comes back.  I don't understand this at all and it is so frustrating!!!  It's changing our sex lives.  My husband doesn't want to hurt me.  Has anybody had this happen to them?  Just looking for some advice.  It doesn't make any sense to me, nothing has changed in our lives.  Anything would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Hi there,

How long between sex sessions are you going? Do you have trouble with vaginal dryness? What do you use for lubricant during sex? Are you on any hormonal birth control? Has this birth control changed at all in the last couple of years?

Hi again,

Birth control pills can cause vaginal dryness, so this might be why this has happened. You should talk to your gyn about it, and not just mention the tear, but the overall dryness you are feeling.

You might want to consider trying more natural lubricants, such as Sylk, which you can get online. Sylk, for example, is chemical free, so works better with your body for lubrication. You can use it as an every day thing, just to keep the edge off any dryness, and help reduce friction from your underwear. I've tried it before, and I think it's great. There are other products on the market also, which you might want to do a google search for (can't remember their names off the top of my head).

Also, consider trying Vitamin E cream on the tear to help it heal. Vitamin E cream helps keep skin supple, so might help the healing process.

Another thing is that a barrier cream might help to reduce friction from your underwear also, giving the tear more of a chance to heal.
