2nd Period in 17 Days
| Sun, 09-28-2008 - 7:36am |
Im a 33 year old woman. I am NOT on any forms of birth control for over 6 years. I have VERY normal periods, every month, lasts anywhere from 3 to 5 days. This month I had my peirod as expeceted on September 11. That period came with the normal PMS. Last night i went to bed with horrible back pain, i assumed it was from over duing the house cleaning. I woke up this morning and got my period again, this has never happened to me. Of COURSE this happens when i have a very important function to attend this week. Has this happened to anyone? Is there any way I can stop it?
Any advice would be great
Thanks!
Zann

Hi there,
How heavy is this latest period? If it is very light, and only lasts a day or two, then it could very well be ovulation bleeding, which is quite common. It's nothing to worry about. The back pain you experienced could have been from you ovulating. If it is a full on period, then that might be a different story.
When I was a teenager, my period came like clockwork, when it was supposed to......except when I went on holiday. Whenever we went away on holiday for a weekend, a week, whatever you could guarantee I would get my period, even if it was nowhere near due. Thankfully those days seem to have gone for me!
If it's a full period, and it lasts into the function you are attending, you can try taking 600mg of ibuprofen every four hours. This sometimes helps to reduce bleeding. Make sure you drink quite a bit of water when you take it, as ibuprofen can be hard on the stomach. It's not something I would recommend for regular use, but I've seen it recommended as an option on the Birth Control Board, back before I became a leader there.
