Dermoid Cyst.. Laparoscopy?

Good Morning!  This Friday I am having laparoscopy for a dermoid cyst on my ovary.  I am 32, single with no children.  I am scared to death!  I am also nervous because I have to drink some sort of laxative 2 days prior to the surgery.

Has anyone had to have this type of surgery?  And if so, how did it go for you?

Thanks!

Hi there,

I've never had this kind of surgery, but for the removal of a cyst, laparoscopy is the least invasive option available. You may find afterwards that you have pain for a few days, or you may be up and about pretty quickly.

The laxative will help to empty your bowels out before surgery, which will reduce inflammation and make it easier to see during surgery. Afterwards, it will help to keep any pressure off the ovary while it recovers.

Hi,

I've just had a laparscopy a week and half ago. I had three dermoid cysts removed. One was thought to be 5 cm but was bigger when they did the procedure and had to remove my left ovary.
