Instead soft cups..anyone use them?

Figures, Hubby and I have a night away on saturday, and I feel like my period is about to start, A WEEK EARLY!
A few people have mentioned the Instead cups, that hold menstral flow (I have light periods) and can be used safely during sex.

my only concern, I have an IUD, and it says there is a slight risk of disloding an IUD during removal of the Instead. But if I were careful and slow doing so, would it be ok? I am REALLY bummed about this.

Anyone have experience with the Instead?

thanks

I've used the instead but not since I got my IUD. I'm guessing if it's safe to use a tampon with an IUD then it's safe to use an instead or other menstrual cup. I really haven't looked into it I only use cloth pads. I hated the instead because it was so messy. I'm really sensitive to blood so getting my hand covered in it and dumping a whole cup full of it just wasn't my thing.

Hi there,

I've never used them myself. I imagine that the problem with the Instead cup is that the rim should remain dry (i.e. no fluid leaking out), so the IUD strings might stick to the rim. In a tampon, when it's removed at the right time, it should be fairly well wet, which will reduce its stickiness. If you're really keen on trying the Instead cup, you might want to try putting lubricant around the rim to reduce your strings sticking. But bear in mind that many women struggle with menstrual cups the first few times they use them, so you might not be able to rely on it this weekend.

You can try taking 600mg of ibuprofen every four hours to reduce the blood flow so you can enjoy your time away.

P.S. Sorry I'm late getting back to you, and you're likely to have already been away by now! Just realised!
