Permanent Yeast infection

I'm new to this board.
I have problems with chronic & persistent yeast infections.
It's annoying- I can't count on one hand the times I've been to the doctor about it over the past 3 or 4 months.
It gets worse if I eat foods with yeast, too. I used to eat regular (whole grain) bread all the time, and now I can't.
I take acidophilus everyday, but that doesn't seem to do too much.
Has anyone experienced this? If so, is there a solution to it?

Hi there,
I used to have a problem with permanent yeast infections. I found that it was caused by my birth control, so if you are on a form of hormonal birth control, you might want to consider stopping it for a while and see if that helps.
Also, I took a really good probiotic that have a number of different bacteria in it, and not just acidophilus. The higher the count in each capsule, the better. I did find that it helped. Cut all products containing yeast out of your diet for a while, and slowly introduce them back in one by one over a period of time once your symptoms get better. I also found that using a pH vaginal gel helped to keep the pH levels up in my vagina so that the yeast couldn't grow (if the environment is too acidic, it can't grow).
You can also get a culture done to identify the type of yeast you have. Candida albicans is the most regular type, but there is a rarer strain that is a lot harder to get rid of, and they can identify it by growing a culture from a swab. If you have that, then they can target it with different antifungal treatments than they would regularly prescribe.
Sometimes strong broad-spectrum antifungal treatments work better than those that are normally used to treat yeast infections in the genital tract. My mother is a diabetic and gets regular infections. She finds that Nizoral works a lot better than Diflucan.
Good luck!
