Had a yearly gyno physical recently and nothing came back normal! My pap showed atypical squamous cells, cannot exclude. My Mamo (digital) came back asking me to return for additional imaging and ultrasound, if necessary. There is an area on my rt breast that is questionable.
I had a colposcopy yesterday, with 4 biopsies, including one in the pereneal area. I also have high-risk HPV. I have to wait 1-2 wks for the results.
I made an appt for my recall mamo in 12 days.
I am 61 years old and have had 3 colposcopys in the past 30 years and multiple mamo recalls in the past 20 years. Six years ago, I had both at the same time, as well as now. It seems like I never have a clean bill of health, either the top or bottom has to be further investigated, or both at the same time.
I'm really worried about the results. Also becoming weary of always seeming to be on a merry-go-round with this stuff. Of course, I know that they have to be monitered.
I was just wondering, if anyone out there has had similar experiences as I have had, especially with both tests coming back problematic at the same time. Also, does anyone know the statistics of either one of these coming back malig.?
Thanks so much for your help

Hi there,
I don't think I've ever seen anyone post that has experienced both problems at the same time. Although your history suggests that you won't have breast cancer, I'm going to refer you to the Breast Cancer Board to see if anyone else has had these sorts of issues as well. Normally I'd refer you to the HPV Board, but that board usually consists of younger women, who are less likely to have had mammograms and/or breast problems.

The biggest issue is, because you have HPV, you are always at risk of symptoms, regardless of anything going on. You may find that if your immune system is compromised at any time, for any reason, then the symptoms will reappear. There are so many little things that can happen in the breast as well, and they can definitely be independent of any cervical issues, even if there seems to be a correlation.
Best of luck with your colpo and retests!
