Lactating & NOT preg.

I'm 24 yrs old.  I've noticed for a while that occasionally there would be a clear to whitish liquid come from my nipple if my breast was squeezed or touched too hard.  Now I'm noticing that it'll actually squirt a little I touch my breast.  This is embarrassing just to type for some reason.

I'm not on birth control and I'm definitely not pregnant.  I have heard some meds can change your hormones.  I'm not sure if anti-depressants do that...cause thats what I'm on.

If anyone has any insight to this, that would be great. Thanks.

I've heard that you can start lactating if your nipples are stimulated often.

This can be quite normal from time to time, I myself have experienced this.

I did a quick search and saw that in fact some antidepressant can cause lactation. I would look up the side effects of the specific drug you're taking to be sure.

Hi there,

Just wanted to weigh in to say I agree with the others. Some antidepressants can cause lactation, so you might want to talk to your doctor about this. Hormonal imbalances can also cause issues. It is probably easier to get your hormone levels checked and see if there is a problem there first, rather than start to play with your antidepressant medications. If your hormone levels come back OK (including prolactin levels, and all thyroid hormones), then you might want to talk to your doctor about the possibility of trying a different antidepressant.
