Hi,I'm new and I have a question to ask. I'm 28 years old and have 3 wonderful kids. I had my tubes tied 2 1/2 years ago and since last Oct I've been having horrible pelvic and back pain(the pain goes down my leg also),and was wondering if I can still get endometriosis after a tubal? The told me I had a 3.5cm cyst on my right ovary but it had burst and I'm still in pain. Could it be endo? The cyst had burst in November, but I'm confused as to why I'm still in pain. I saw the gyno and he said if I'm still in pain in 6 weeks for me to call him and he will have to go in to see whats going on. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!

I also forgot to mention that I'm in pain everyday since Oct. and it gets worse with my cycle. I bleed heavy and pass huge clots. I'm getting to the point to where I've been getting depressed not knowing whats wrong and with the pain. My cycle's have been irregular for me..they go from 23-30 days. So,I'm not sure when my next cycle will start. He did a pelvic exam last friday and it hurt so bad. He said I'm tender in the same spot I've been hurting. I've bled after the exam and passed small clots on friday and spotted a little more on saturday. I have not bled before after an exam, and was worried. The nurse told me the blood was from the exam and she also told me I could be starting my cycle earlier. This is my first time having irregular periods,I use to have a normal cycle before I got pregnant with my 3rd child, then after having her and getting my tubes tied, they have been irregular. I'm just soo confused!

Hi there,

Yes, you can definitely have endometriosis after a tubal, since it is hormonally based, and a tubal doesn't take away your ovaries.

Other things that can cause problems are fibroids and polyps. I think you are more likely to experience discomfort or pain with fibroids, and that will depend on their size and location in the uterus. It is possible that you had more than one cyst on your right ovary, or that the burst cyst hasn't healed over properly.

I suggest you see your doctor again. Good luck.

Hi again,

An ultrasound can tell you if you have uterine polyps or fibroids, as long as they are big enough. Alternatively they can do a hysteroscopy (insert a small camera into the uterus) and find them that way.

The usual way of diagnosing endometriosis is via laparoscopy.

If you are not finding any relief with the ibuprofen, take the vicodin like your doctor said. I find ibuprofen is good for cramps, but not for a lot of other gyn pain. Unfortunately you can only take vicodin for the short term, as it can be quite addictive. Ibuprofen is safer in that regard, which is why it is better for long term pain. Only taking two a day will not help much though, because it will wear off. You can take up to 2 200mg ibuprofen tablets, 4 times a day.

I got my pap smear results and they're normal. Can scar tissue cause pain? I was told that I have alot and was wondering if that could cause pain? And even though my pap was normal, could I still have endo? I'm totally confused.
