When we lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, I had an Ob/Gyn who was exactly the opposite: always late, hardly ever saw her for more than a minute, never listened to me... I dropped her after a year and went to my insurance carrier for a recommendation for a doctor who honored my insurance. He was much better... but he relocated about a year before we did, so I had to acquire a new physician.
For the next decade or so, the doctors were company recommended. A mixed bag (some good some not so good), all GPs (in the UK, for example, we needed a GP who could refer you to an OB/GYN --- you couldn't just make an appointment - national health didn't work that way. In china, we went to a Canadian run clinic... In Saudi, we came home for medical treatment - home leaves were almost entirely spent making and keeping medical dental and eye appointments with physicians recommended my my inlaws!
So I no longer have an Ob/Gyn. When we moved back to the US, we asked a couple of RNs at the hospital who they would recommend (having decided to NOT stick with the inlaws' recommendation). My doctor is a Family Practice specialist wo works with a very good Nurse practitioner. I like them because I can talk to them and they treats me like an intelligent customer rather than a dumb-bell they needs to shuffle through the office as fast as possible.

How did you find your gynecologist?Dr. S was recommended by a friend of mine. Dr. Y was the female ob-gyn at the clinic near my old office.
Would you/do you recommend your doctor to others?Yes, I've recommended both doctors to others.
How did you know your doctor was the right one for you? They both took their time to listen, and made time to answer my questions. There was eye contact, they didn't wear a disapproving face.
There are two other gynecologists that I've got to who are excellent. I didn't continue with them as both were friends of my cousin (also a doctor) and at that time if felt a bit too close for comfort...
That's quite the doctor history!

I don't have an actual gynecologist. I have a physician'sassistant. I encouraged my husband to avoid my previousdoctor's office at all costs because they were alwaysrunning late. He can't stand to be kept waiting overlong.
I would recommend this doctor if someone were looking for one.And I knew she was right for me because she's so approachable.I've had very few doctors I was comfortable talking with.
How did you find your gynecologist?
Luck of the draw, my old gynecologist retire and when I called to make an appoint I was given one with my new gynecologist.

She thought full, takes her time, explains everything, and if I call with a question or I'm waiting on test result she calls me back every time.
