Vitamins! Ever since I met my husband I've been on a vitamin regimine. He was raised on vitamins and herbs, so his family is like my own encyclopedia on that stuff. I wanted to tell you that you can get great prices on vitamins from Swanson. http://www.swansonvitamins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StoreCatalogDisplay?

Also, http://www.wholefoods.com/healthinfo/wholehealth/list_supp.html The whole foods website has tons of info on supplements.

I also wanted to tell you about an herbal combo I'm taking specifically for inflamation. It's a combo of Quercetin & Bromelain. I have autoimmune thyroiditis (unknown if its considered graves or hashimoto's b/c were waiting to see which way my TSH is going to go) But I have had a lot of discomfort with the swelling of my thyroid. I take 500 mg of Quercetin and 250 mg of Bromelain. I found them in a combo in the Swanson's catalog. I was doing research and read that people had reduced swelling of the thyroid from those herbs. They are recommended for sinusitis, allergies, hives, of even dosage recommendations for sprains and strains. So, that may help as well.

Be careful when starting your vitamin regimine. You don't want to take everything all at once, or too much at the beginning. It can be too much on your system. Its best to take them after you eat too. I think it would be best to take your multi and one or two others. I take between 2 and 5 multi's a day to get all I need (so I dont have to take it seperate). I also have been taking a b-complex (i think it makes me feel sick though--nasty aftertaste) evening primrose oil, calcium/magneseum/zinc combo. I sometimes take echinecea to help with my immune system too.

You just have to be careful not to introduce too much too soon. I take my multi + something else in the morning, then at lunch take others, and before dinner I take my bromelain/quercetin, after dinner I take whatever's left.

ohhh, one more thing. Its been found that taking your vitamins with real grapefruit juice 100% helps with absorption of the vitamins. It helps your body to utilize them, also its a good idea to take all meds --unless noted--with grapefruit juice. Whatever's in it helps it all to work better.

Hope this isn't too much info too soon! Good luck, --Lisa

Hi girlie - thanks a lot for all that info. I guess you really can get in deep with all the vitamin intakes. As long as it works, I'm for it. I just ordered B-Complex and Co-Q10 that Cathy recommended. I'm just starting with this stuff. I'm also on medication for my thyroid so I have to be careful. Thanks again. Have a great weekend. Lisa - I was just reading that swelling with autoimmune thyroidistis is usually indicative of Hashimoto's. That's usually the direction it end up going. There is rarely swelling with graves, according to the book I was just reading. Just thought I'd mention it in case you didn't know already! Cathy :)

No I had no idea. All they could tell me was that I would have to wait to see if my thyroid was going to go hyper or hypo and for now I just had the thyroiditis. Gotta love it. Thanks Cath!
