Well Gina, that's all I could come up with in a few mins. I'm sure its a lot of info to start with. I hope it helps. And I hope the discomfort in your neck calms down. Taking Calcium and ibuprofen can help it. --lisa

Lisa,

thank you so much for the info. I have a lot of reading to do but am looking forward to gaining new knowledge.

Actually, I took naproxen last night and the pain subsided a bit. Going to call my endo today and see if I can actually speak to him!

Again, I appreciate the information.

Hey there Gina, I just heard about a drug called Methimazole. Its an antithyroid drug. A lady from another thyroid forum has been taking it for her Grave's disease. I dont know anything else about it, but it might help you to avoid the RAI. I know that you are looking for a more natural way to control your thyroid but this might be something to start with. I'll try to research it and post again.

Hi Lisa,

thanks for the info. Not sure why my endo recommended the ptu. I guess he was under the assumption that it would be short term use in preparation of the RAI. I know there are a couple of antithyroid meds. I have 2 youngs kids out of school for summer vacation so I'm slow on doing research. Thank you for yours!!!! Much appreciated.

No problem. I've heard of people having results using PTU. Keep researching. Good luck!
