Anyone else have migraines that are made worse by their thyroid issues? Just curious as I saw a neurologist this morning for my migraines (they've gotten unbearable) and she said that if I can get my thyroid regulated, my migraines will probably get better.

I have a CT on Monday and some meds to try but I REALLY would like to finally get in to see an Endo. Still trying to find one as I spoke to my doctor last night and she doesn't want to write a referral. Sheesh for the time it took to call me, she could have written one!

I hope your migraines feel better soon! Why won't your doctor write a referral for you? Cathy

So sorry to hear about your migranes. My sister gets them and she was on some kind of medicine daily and something to take when she felt them coming on, it seemed to help. If your migranes are set off by hormones then yah, I bet your thyroid has something to do with it, b/c thyroid disorders majorly affect menstral situations, mentral stuff is affected my hormones, so could the migranes. Lots of women get migranes around pms and while pregnant.

I think the reason why the doctor doesn't want to refer out is because they only get so much $$ from your insurance company per year. Why would they want to share that $$ with a specialist? hmm? you have to think like them. I would push and push and push for it. And if your doctor is still acting like that, ask the neurologist or whoever it is you have seen for your migranes. Or better yet-- see a NEW DOCTOR!

Call the doc every day, like cl cathy and I said before in one of our converstions on here, Stir it up! Be a pain in their side and they will be happy to refer you--it will get you out of their hair! LOL...

Good luck to you. If your doctor was in your situation, you better darn well believe they wouldn't just push it aside, they would be looking for answers too!

hugs hugs & more hugs! --Lisa

I ws just diagnosed and last year my migraines got worse. When I used to get them I could take a tylenol 3 and a nap and they got better. Last spring I starated getting migraines that would not go away. within a few months I also managed to put on 20 lbs withoutr changing my routine. I asked for all the thyroid tests and was told they were all normal. This spring I noticed that I could eat less than 1200 calories a day and still suddenly put on 2-4 lbs overnight. it would take a week or so to lose and then they popped back on. Needless to say, I demanded more tests and got a diagnosis, I also started meds last week. I should get my cycle this next week and am curious to see if the migraines are still as bad. I did see the endo and he confirmed that the thyroid will make the migraines worse. Good luck.

I'm glad to hear you recently started some meds, I hope it helps. I've seen how migranes can stop people from doing what they want to do. I hope you get relief from it. Take care of yourself!
