I welcome all suggestions for a good leave-in or rinse-out conditioner!

The remaining hairs on my head (bless them) are like those old doll wigs--- remember?

And I now have quite the graveyard of hair products that DONT work. I'm on a tight budget, but if you know something expensive that works maybe I'll submit it as an unreimbursed medical expense on my taxes :) lol

Thanks!

What I end up using most often are the conditioner tubes that come with my haircolor. I use those almost every day even thought they're so heavy because my hair is really dry, too. If you don't color your hair, you might try some of the conditioners made for once a week use, like Garnier Fructis - I think it's called? - or VO5 extreme conditioner or their hot oil conditioners. Those work well. if you want to spend a little more, try Humectress by Nexus. You can use it as a conditioner but you can also add it once your hair is dry, or even throughout the day when your hair starts to look kind of brittle. I've been using it for 20 years!!! You can get it at a beauty parlor/hair salon.

Neutrogena has a new one out but I didnt find that it was that good. If you have brown hair, the new line of hair care from John Freida is wonderful! And if you use one of the "shine" products after you've washed your hair, it adds a lot of moisture. Can you tell I'm a drug store junkie?!?

The best thing you can do for your hair and skin is to add a supplement of Omega 3 to your diet. Take 3 capsules a day and you'll see the difference in your hair and skin over time. You can get all the EFA's (essential fatty acids) in one pill, too ,if you look for it, so it would include Omega 3, 6 and 9. If you like salmon, add wild salmon to your diet once or twice a week. You'd be amazed at the difference it makes! Cathy :)

I use Pantene daily (shampoo & conditioner).

I've used it for years and really like it.

Hey there Dee,

This might sound strange, but at Sally's beauty supply stores or in the "ethnic" hair care section is this stuff called cholesterol. It is peach in color and is in a see-through platic jar with reddish writing and a white top. Its really thick. You can use it as a rinse out daily conditioner or a deep conditioner. It is full of rich good stuff--perfect for dry corse hair. I went through a dry hair stage and besides regular conditioning I used Thermasilk spray in conditioner/detangler. That stuff was great. Especially if you blow dry or curl your hair. It has a heat activated protectant in it, so if you do use heat it works even better!

There's all kinds of good stuff in the ethnic hair care sections. Even asking some ladies what do they use could be great advice. My friend in college used some hair grease called african pride, and it smelled great! Also there's like oil sprays to moisturize hair too. If you are having really dry and course hair you might want to experiment with that sort of thing.

Oh another thing my friend used was Luster's Pink Oil. They have stuff like pink oil moisturize hair lotion. You never know what might work! I know these ideas are different.

What a great idea!!

I'm going to do some exploring... there's a beauty supply near my home that I think will carry some of the products you mention.

Thanks!

Dee.

Hi Dee, I agree with Cathy, the conditioners that come in hair color/highlighting kits is wonderful, however I think they only recommend you use it 1-2x a week.
