Hey hey hey. I found a job I'm going to apply for that I have a great feeling about! It will still be teaching pre-k just in a large center and closer to home! I'm really excited about it. I've worked in a similar place before as a sub and really liked it. I hope it works out, I called and they offer benefits too. So I wont have to worry about leaving my other job. Right now I communte 1 hr each way a day (during the school year) and wont be as stressed. (I teach preschool for a gov't program in a untit by myself with 1 full time and 1 part time assistant. There are alot of requirements and paperwork and I only have 6 hours a day, so I'm always forced to bring it home! Plus a lot of violence in the neighborhood & at the elementary.) With this job the ratio is 5 students to 1 teacher!

I guess I shouldn't gripe about my other job because I know how many people are without jobs right now because of the economy, but I am excited that this might work out!

Does anyone know if having a thyroid disorder effects the way you deal with stress? B/C I had a lot of times during the school year when I felt really stressed out. I was afraid it was making me sick. I had a lot of colds. Plus I've noticed I've gained weight around my belly area like they say you can when you are stressed. Usually I gain weight evenly all over.

Well anyways, I will keep posted about what happens. I really hope that this works out!

Congrats on the job opportunity. I'll be praying for you. It sounds great! When will you know if you have it?

Stress plays a big role in how out thyroid functions and many doctors think that heavy stress might even *cause* thyroid conditions. And I think you're right about associating it with gaining weight around your stomach because that's what cortisol does. It's the stress hormone that delivers body fat to your abs!! Isn't that nice?? LOL! I think having a thyroid disorder to begin with, then dealing with stress, really has the potential to deplete your thyroid hormone and cause fatigue and other problems - so like Foxy was saying, it becomes a circular thing.

The best thing you can do for yourself- and all of us can do - is to eat right, get lots of exercise and enough rest every night!!! Gee -that sounds like advice from Marcus Welby! But you may be too young to remember him. LOL! Cathy :)
