Hi Mary Ann - good for you!!! Selenium is a another supplement that you can take, called a trace element, like zinc and copper. I get mine in my vitamin E pill, it's included in there for some reason. But there are plenty of foods that contain selenium, like, whoe grains, tuna, organ meats, mushrooms, egg noodles, halibut, lean beef, soybeans - not for us!, oatmeal, wheat germ and sunflower seeds. Dr. Arem recommends 50 mcg of selenium a day. Selenium is another antioxident and it is critical in the conversion of T4 to T3. Our bodies make both hormones but more T4 than T3. Then it converts that T4 to T3 in whatever amount it needs. So it's an important supplement. It's important to take a good Vitamin E supplement - especially in the pre and post menopausal years. It helps with everything. if you can't find a Vitamin E with selenium included, it's available on its own, too.

Now you can see why I end up taking about 20 pills a day!! And I eat really well, too, but it's just not enough to cover everything! Cathy :)

Cathy you're great for this site. Yes, I can see why you take 20 pills now.

Now I'll see about Vitamin E. That'll bring me up to 5 pills a day and counting.

If only I can work on my weight now. Have a great week. Mary ann
