Hello. My husband has congenital hypothyroidism. We were recently pregnant but unfortunately we suffered a miscarriage. We have been told that the miscariage probably occured because of a chromosomal problem. Could our baby have had a problem with her thyroid? Could it have caused the miscarriage.

Hi - I'm sorry that I didn't see this message. And I'm so sorry for the loss of your baby. That's a difficult thing to go through and I'm sorry. I know that thyroid conditions in women can cause miscarriages so there is a possibility that your husband's thyroid condition was a factor. The baby's thyroid wouldn't have anything to do with it. Is your husband being treated? If heh as a current endo now, it would be a good thing to check with him or her and let them know of your plans to concieve and see what they say. It's important for your husband's tsh levels to be normal and for him to be on the right amount of medication. Please post back if you have any other questions. I hope this helps. Cathy :)
