Hi all! My name is Shannon and I was diagnosed with hypo/Hashimoto's in May. My TSH was 10.49 at the time. My endo put me on .150 mg Synthroid as my first dosage. Now I see that it was a pretty aggressive dosage. When I went in for my next (June) visit my TSH was down to .02 so my dosage was decreased to .137 mg. I am feeling pretty good right now. With the high dosage I had alot of nighttime (and daytime) sweating but thank goodness that's better now with the lower dosage. My endo also told me that I have PCOS (polycysitic ovarian syndrome). I am taking the Synthroid for my thyroid and Glucophage, BCPs, and am starting Aldactone in a few days for the excess testosterone in my system from the PCOS that is causing acne and unwanted hair growth. I am exercising alot now to lose weight and try to get healthy again.

That's my bio. I'm happy to meet everyone!!

Hi everyone!

I'm Patti - diagnosed recently with hypo/Hashimoto's. I've been on 100 mcg of Synthroid for a little over 2 weeks. My blood work was initially ordered by my GYN, who I saw because of irregular and extremely heavy periods. When my TSH came back over 100, he told me to see my family doctor immediately, who redid the blood work and sent me for a scan and uptake. In combo with all my other tests, looks like my problems are the result of 1)my hypo 2)fibroid tumors in my uterus 3)pre-menopause. A Triple Whammy!!!!!!!

Hi! I'm Stephanie - almost 31 years old, mother of 2 beautiful girls, Olivia and Karistann. TSH 3.73 (not bad, but doesn't make me feel great) I was just diagnosed with Hashi/Hypo on July 28th and have been on 75 mcg of Synthroid for just 2 days. My GYN first noticed my enlarged thryoid and ordered blood work a month ago. I had also gained 18 lbs since October/November 2003 - not good on my 5'1 frame - despite consistent exercise and decent diet!! Following an ultrasound noting a multinodular goiter I was referred to an Endo who drew more blood to test for Hashi's. I'm now in the process of researching the best diet, exercise and supplement for me and hope to take off some of this weight and feel more energized in the near future!! It's so great to have someplace to go to bounce things off of each other and get the much needed support!!! :)

I got my diagnosis on July 28, too! I don't know ANYTHING about any of the acronyms you guys are using. I haven't seen any of my blood test results from my doctor--he just called me after the blood test results were in and said "Guess what, I have good news! I know why you've been feeling tired and I can fix it!" I'm thinking, hearing that I have a physical problem is good news? I was hoping it was all in my head and/or all I'd need to do is excercise more and I'd feel better. Oh well. LOL!

So I guess I have hypothyroidism and I'm on 50mcg of synthroid.

Stephanie, I know exactly what you mean about researching the right diet and excercise. I hope to be able to kick this without pills some day. I'm about 20-30 lbs overweight. This all happened so fast...on Tuesday I was just an otherwise normal person who was a little too tired, and now I've got this "condition".

It's really neat to see all these other women who have also been recently diagnosed. Hopefully we will be able to get each other's questions answered.

Hi, my name is Gabrielle. I have been on some form of Thyroid medication since I was 3 months old. You see, I was born without a thyroid gland. They didn't start routinely checking for thyroid function until 1981, ten years too late for me. Luckily, they did catch me in time for me not to be severely retarded, short in stature, and all the other traits that go along with cretinism. I don't know what my TSH levels were, but I do take .175mg of Synthroid a day.:)
