Early puberty and thyroid???

Hi everyone. Just a curious question. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism about five years ago, though i'm sure i had it before that. Had noticable symptoms at least for ten years, after my daughter was born. My question is about how long i might have really had probs though. I was a very early developer in some ways. I was very tall, and had my period at age ten. This may not seem too odd, but i've always wondered why i developed pubic hair so early. I've had it soo long it's hard to remember exactly, but i know i had it at least in the second grade, and i was actually a year younger than most second graders, because of the way my birthday falls. I remember because i was so embarrassed, and one of my friends commented on it when i spent the night at her house. BTW, my baby was a preemie, too. She only weighted five pounds. Just wondered about this. Thanks in advance.

hmmm. that is a good question. i know i have read that late puberty is a sign of hypothyroidism, which is what i have. i also am convinced i have been suffering long before actual diagnosis (have hashi's.) so it seems pretty reasonable that the revease could be true. maybe do a search on it in google and see if anything comes up. i was the opposite of what you described as i didn't start until 14 and it took years before i developed pubic hair-fully. i also knew something was wrong with me- altho i was checked for it by a military dr. (cuz i was so concerned, my mom finally took me to the dr.) and they told me i was normal. now, when i do reading on it and see diagrams of what is normal- i so wasn't normal! i get angry cuz i think they could have detected this a long time ago, and i wouldn't have had to suffer so much for so long.

LMK what you find out. i am curious- since i am just the reverse side of the coin!
