Hi!

I have Graves Disease. I go to the doc fri for my follow up visit and at that point will make a choice about my treatment.

I have a quick question. Is there anyone out there hyper (hypo too) that has weird things happen with their eyes? What's been happening to me is when I first close my eyes to try and sleep they start moving like crazy, kinda like REM except I am not asleep.

Last night it happened, I was awake a good part of the night (couldn't sleep! as usual)

and I got back in bed, rolled over and they started doing it and no matter how hard I tried I couldnt get it to stop unless I opened my eyes. Just wondering if this is a symptom of hyper??

Ok, this isn't so quick! ha

Hi April - I didn't find that particular things listed as a symptom of Graves but other eye issues are involved, usually a slowing of the movement of the eye, bulging eyes, dry eyes ..... but perhaps there is someone here who is hyper and has experienced what you have. I hope they see your post. Cathy :)

I have Graves and my eyes have bulged out, and are therefore irritated and dry because the lids don't cover them all the way. However, my eyes don't move around like you are talking about. I would go see an opthamologist who specializes in eye problems related to thyroid disorders.

So April is your name, sorry but I know better now. Well I think that very well could be caused by going hyper. IF you look in a mirror and compre your eyes to a old phpto do your lids appear to be more retarcted, more open like you are staring? Eye movement can be a symptom of hyper and that is why endos do the follow my finger test, they are looking for a invountary movement of the eyes either up and down or side to side. Another trick I was told by our doc is to watch your goiter, primarily if it gets bigger that is meaning it is becoming more active, your thyroid. In your case it would probably mean you are becoming more hyper.

Hi Eric, I was thinking you were Jen actually. So now I know you are Eric...

I will be sure to bring up the eye thing at the doc tomorrow. Sometimes I feel like such a hypochondriac wondering if the things I am feeling is my thyroid or what.

Like tonight while playing v-ball it felt almost like my head was shaking a little...not sure if it actually looked like it, but it felt like it!

are you hyper? if so what treatment are you using?

Thanks

April
