Another hair loss/hyper question

Before being diagnosed w/ hyper, I had many symptoms but hair loss was not one of them. Now, I've been on PTU for 4+ months. Just recently, I started feeling some of my old hyper symptoms and now my hair has been falling out like crazy. Even DH mentioned how much of my hair was on the bathroom floor. I never had to deal w/ this before. Could I be actually going hypo now or maybe I need to up my meds. I am confused now. Even though I have very thick "big" hair, it is scary to see so much of it coming out.

I go see my endo next week and I'll be sure to add this one to the list. Just thought I'd check w/ you ladies (the real experts) first!!

Thanks,

Hi Gina - when a person is hypo and needs more medication, they're hair can begin falling out again. It can be a symptom before you are diagnosed and can also be a side effect of the Synthroid when you first start taking it. So it would make sense that it may be possible that you need to increase your medication. Hair loss is a symptom of hyperthyroidism and even though you've never had it before, I think you're right to question your medication. Whyn ot check with your doctor and see what he or she says?
