TSH normal-but i'm not (M)

i saw my endo again today. it looks like my TSH is *perfect* as he says at a .6. so now, i need to know why i still do not feel like myself? he is going to change my meds to amorthyroid (SP?) which is a med with the T3 and T4 combo. then i am to see him again in 12 weeks. i knew i was feeling a little better- about 30% but i still expected them to say my TSH was in the teens or something. i was so shocked when they told me it was a .6. my dr. wanted to get me to a .5 and he hit it right on the money with the med increase from .1-1.75. next time he is running the metabolic panel again, CBC, TSH and sedimentation rate (ESR) does anyone know what the sedimentation rate is and what it is looking for?

he told me that either i am one of those people who needs the T3 T4 combo or there is something else going on that we haven't dx. this scares me, as i know something is really worng with me. the last time they regualted me, it happened fast and i felt a significant difference with in 2wks. i felt better then i ever had my entire life! and my level was a 2.5 then. now i am a .6 and i still feel like someone is going to tell me i am dying or something.

so good news and bad, i guess.

Hi Erika - Armour thyroid is the natural dessicated thyroid that we've talked about here. it contains both T4 and T3. What I don't understand is that your TSH level of .6 is barely normal - it is so close to the hyperthyroid range. So I don't understand that. Is this the same doctor that knew that you felt great at 2.5? I've never heard of the sedimentation rate test, or the metabolic panel unless that's antoher name for the full thyroid panel? The Free T3 etc? I never heard of the CBC either. I'll look those up for you (and me!). So you're starting to feel better? Cathy :)

A sedimation rate will show if there might be some kind of infection that is causing a inflamation, people wit reumotoid athrititi will sometimes have a elevated sed rate. Any kind of significants with the metabolic panel or other tests, watch your sodium and potasium levels in the metabolic panel, very important electrolytes. What were your other thyroid hormone levels?

i don't know what my other thyroid levels were- i didn't even think to ask, since i do not much understand the T3 and T4 and what they mean. as for my TSH being a .6, all i know is that my endo wanted to get me to a .5. he told me at my first appt. that he likes to keep his paitents with Hash- on the lower part of normal. i don't know why, i didn't ask. i just figured he knew what he was talking about and i was so glad to be seeing an endo. i told my endo yesterday about the significant change i felt the first time, when i went from a 10-2.5 after just a few wks on .1 of synthroid. i think that is why he wants to run the metabolic panel again and the sedimentation rate. from what i can tell this test can be an a very vague indicator of something serious going on- that might need further testing. it kinda scares me that he wants to perform this test... but i am guessing he just wants to rule stuff out. but it still sorta scares me. he also thinks i might be very anemic or something. i guess this also causes fatigue and is what the CBC is for. the only time i have ever been anemic is during my pg. which is very common for a lot of women.
