Just be aware that they have now come out with a generic called Levothyoxine and the pharmacists and mail-aways are filling script now with the generic unless your dr. has written "No Substitutions" on the bottom of the script. I just received my order through the mail, and was unhappy to see the generic and starting doing some calling around plus checked out the company making this generic and wasn't too happy with what I read. So, I was right in the fact that I thought my endo would NOT want me on a generic, so did a lot more calling, and called the mail-away company, and they had to actually go look to see if the dr. signed the bottom for No Subs. I waited about 20 minutes on hold, they kept asking me if they could call me back and I said "no" because I felt they wouldn't. Anyway, the nurse was right and he had made the notation on the bottom. Phew. So, she had told me this is causing a lot of problems because now the lab work shows up differently and what is causing that--what filler and binders, etc. are they putting in these generics--that are not only made in 5 plants in the US but also all over the world which they will use as a backup if they run out of the US produced meds. Anyway, they are sending me the Levoxyl, and an envelope to send back the generic as I told her I would just dump them down the toilet as I wouldn't use them. When I told the nurse this she couldn't believe it because I was the only one that got them to do this. She would write script for me, but actually these companies aren't notifying the patient of the generic and it's against the law for them to do this.
So, anybody on Levoxyl, be aware of this--I understand it's also Synthroid that is involved with this also. The name of the company is SanDoz if you care to look it up, or here is a hyperlink.
