i have only been on the amour thyroid for 3 days, but i already feel and see a difference. up until 9 or so (usually in bed by 7:30-8) and have a little more nrg. enough to go on a walk today with baby! i need to start exercising so i went to academy and bought some outfits. next i plan to get some new fitness shoes and my ballet classes start in 2 weeks. i am motivated to get moving. i am hoping a few pounds will drop... but mostly i just want to feel healthier and more nrgetic!

Yea!

I'm happy for you; and inspired. I am starting to think that I need to push my endo for the t3 t4 med., too. You've done a great job being your own advocate!

Wow Erika - that's so wonderful!! I'm so happy for you. You've just been through so much, it's so nice to see you feeling better!! It goes to show how the medication we take can make a big difference. Big hugs, Cathy :)

Hi Erika!

Thanks for your update on the Armour...I am glad you're feeling better! : )

I've been very interested in the Armour medication, since I started reading about it a couple of months ago. I am eager to hear what you think about it as you continue to take it. I've read excellent things about it, and it is a plus that it contains both T3 & T4.

Has anyone ever switched from Synthroid to Armour? I think I will bring it up with my D.O. at the next appointmnet, but would like to hear if any of you have first hand knowledge of making "the switch."

Thank you!

~Karen

thanks ladies! i think and hope we have found the answer. up until today i have been feeling great on the armour thyroid (T3/T4 med.) my allergies are acting up and i think it is hitting me hard. anyway, i guess what happens is the usual thyroid meds give you T4. and since we produce both T3 and T4 and T4 is converted into T3 for absorption and use by the body, i am thinking that i was just not converting the med properly or something-- since my TSH was .6- but i still felt really bad. i am so glad i have such a good endo... i didn't even have to mention this med- altho i came prepared and when he mentioned it, i told him i was glad cuz i was planning on asking about it. he is just really good. i think he is nationally known actually, and he disagrees with a few things mentioned in the thyroid solution book by dr. Arem... i.e., sex drive and vaginal dryness. i told him i was suffering with this as well... and he told me it could be that i have low estrogen, but hypo does not cause this. who knows. he wants me to talk with my OB about this. any thoughts on that? anyway, i made the switch from synthroid to armour for the lady that was asking about this. with in 3 days i felt a remarkable difference. b4 the armour i was convinced my dr. was going to need to increase my synthroid dose and then he told me i was a .6! i about died, cuz i felt like i was in the 20's or so (up from 34) i did feel better, but not enough to be normal. anyway, this med seems to be making the difference for me! i would rec. anyone who still feels bad on synthroid but have a good TSH ask their dr. about trying it!
