Hi Shelly - I only have a second before i go to bed but .... and I'm not hyper, but hypo but I think it's because being hyperthyroid increases your heart rate and your pulse so I owuld imagine that raising your heart rate even more by exercising is going to cause you to feel it. I would check with your doctor you make sure it's ok. Are you doing brisk walking or more leisurely walking? Cathy :)

Hi Cathy. Mostly brisk walking, and i also do some aerobics, and leisure walking. Happens after either. I'm on atenolol to keep my heart rate and bp down, and also tapezole for the thyroid. All in all i feel much better with exercise, i get weak and faint from being inactive too much too. But immediately afterwards, i feel faint and weak. I've always been in good shape until now, and my doctor says i need to exercise because i've gained so much weight from taking too much tapezole and falling into the hypo range, which i haven't been in at least a year though. After about 9 months after coming out of the hypo range, i quickly lost 20 plus lbs. The weight loss has really slowed down though. Don't know my range right now, i had it checked last week and haven't gotten the results yet.

I am hyper. I've noticed even when I just start moving around the house picking up, or playing volleyball I start to get really shakey and out of breath. I almost feel like my head is shaking a little but I think it's just on the inside. My hands definitely shake though.

I am guessing its just like Cathy said. My body is working way overtime when I exercise.

I am taking tapazole, to prepare for surgery. Just been taking it a few days. I would hope though that once medicated, etc that those kind of symptoms would go away.

With that being said you should call your doc and ask about it. I know I would. That shaking and the sweating are the 2 symptoms I really HATE.

I am also hyper and had those shakes after exercise as well. Before the diagnosis I figured I was burning so many calories because of a hard workout. I'd even get that feeling after a moderate walk. To help w/ the shakes & faintness, I usually had a gatorade and protien bar waiting for me at the end of my workouts and it did help. Now being on PTU for to control the hyper, I don't experience the shakes and hunger like before.

Thanks for your responses. At least it's comforting to know i'm not the only one. Does anyone know if a person can actually pass out with hyper? This worries me quite a bit, i'm always afraid it'll happen while i'm driving my kids around or something.

I did pass out on my kitchen floor one night--that was what brought me to the ER where I was diagnosed. But I think it was from my irregular heartbeat, and I'd been experiencing symptoms literally for months. I'm not too bright sometimes when it comes to seeking medical care! I don't think Graves can make you pass out if it's being treated.
