i am wondering if certain allergy meds are not good to take if you have hash? i started on the armour thyroid med last week and had seen a remarkable difference in how i feel... but then this week my allergies started acting up very badly and today it seemed to hit me very hard. i have been sleeping all day and feeling like i did before. i think i am under the weather due to my allergies, but i am not sure this can really cause you to feel this way? i started zyrtec today. but before i gor my rx filled i was taking over the counter benadryl at night.

Hi Erika:

I noted something about this in my response to you on my 'hypo-chondriacs' post... but anyway, I had a bad reaction to over-the-counter Clariton (it was hyper-like symptoms). I haven't investigated yet, but I think I would first ask the pharmasist.

Good luck!

Hi Erika - (And Dee!) - Two things come to mind. The first is that it's allergy season here in the NE and you may be experiencing that, too, so it might just be a coincidence. Plus, aggravated allergies are a symptom with hypo that is not in the normal range so that may be a reason but it doesn't sound like it to me, unless it's the impact of the fall weather - the leaves begin to change, the goldenrod is out in full force, and there's all kinds of molds out there etc.

My other thought is that since almost every allergy medication contains ephedrine, you may be reacting to that. Some people are very sensitive to it and even though it's a stimulant, it may just be knocking your system out of whack. You may want to hold off the allergy medication for a few days to see how you feel without it .... I know that's a lot to ask!! I have allergies, too and it's hard to sleep at night without something to clear my head. But, it may help you to figure out what's going on. Just some ideas. Hugs, Cathy :)
