Normal TSH levels?

Hi, I am new here. I recently had a TSH level done (resluts aren't back yet). I was wondering what the normal levels are supposed to be. The dr. was hesitant to say that I could be hypo. She seems to think some of my symptoms are from prednisone. Though I have been on this med many times and never felt like I do.

I am extremely tired even after sleeping 8-9 hours.

I have gained over 20 lbs in 2 1/2 months.

I am always cold.

Irritable (according to dh, though I do notice it sometimes)

I tire easier than I used to.

My grandmother and an aunt are hypo as well. And 8 years ago at the beginning of my pregnancy my thyroid was low, but corrected itself. (wondering if it just came back)

And I am sure there is more. I just know that I feel awfull being this tired all the time.

Thanks for any responses.

So I would just like to know where the levels are supposed to be so I can see for myself what the results are.

Hi:

It sounds like it's a good thing you've had the labs done! See if you can get a printout of them when they are back in. The nurses at my doctor's office always insist on pronouncing me 'normal' when my TSH is within .5-5.5; however, I don't feel good until it's 2.2 or below. My doctor, like many, hasn't converted to the updated normal range of .3-3.0. However, my endocrinologist has agreed to help me get the TSH down to a 1 or a 2 because that is where people who are symptom-free tend to be.

Hope this helps & good luck,

Dee.
