Ok so the doc. called today and said that I am doing really great with the choles. but that I have to stay on the choles. med because my thyroid is whats making it so high oh and my TSH is down to a mere 33 from 51 (LOL) so he said we should probobly triple my dose of meds but we'll just double it for now. So tommorrow I will start the raised doseage, it's odd because six weeks ago when all this thyroid stuff started I was so excited the night before I started my meds that I couldn't sleep I was so happy that I might start to feel better, but instead theres like 1 thing better and 4 worse so it's hard to remain positve with this new doseage oh well I guess I'll see

Hi Michelle - what's worse now? That your cholesterol is still high? It will come down when your thyroid gets leveled off. Unless high cholesterol runs in your family, I wouldn't be surprised if you could go off that medication when your TSH is down in the normal range. Are you upset because your thyroid medication is being raised? There really aren't any drawbacks to taking the medication you need, even at higher doses. You're replacing what your body should be making so it isn't as if you're adding something that shouldn't be there, do you know what I mean? I'm sorry you feel discouraged about it. It sounds like you have a good doctor, though, and I hope that your new medication helps bring that TSH level down so you can feel better. It's odd but it's been almost 2 years and I'm still so happy about taking my meds every morning! LOL! I often think about what would happen is I was stranded on an island somewhere - you know, like a shipwreck or something - and didn't have my medication anymore!! It's too grizzly to think about! LOL! Hang in there. Cathy :)

When I first started the meds I didn't really know anything was wrong, I mean I felt bad all the time but I was used to it because as far as we can tell my thyroid was probobly off for at least 3 years so feeling bad was my norm. So now that I'm on the meds somethings are better, less aches for instance and my hair stopped falling out, and the insomnia is gone but other things have replaced them, like my period is off now and I am having these muscle spasama and I'm so tired I can hardly function, So I guess it's kind of intimidating to think about whats next, what will be better but what will get worse, But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel because I knoiw that at some point the meds will make my levels normal and I will be able to look back and see how much better I feel.

I know what you mean. I think in the beginning it can be kind of bumpy. But I'm hoping that you'll even out. Hugs, Cathy :)

Hi Michelle,

This is Babs, I have been on meds for 8 years. One thing I have learned it is a slow process to feel better! Slow but sure and your body will come around. Once my condition was known and I was put on meds, it took about six months till I felt "back to my normal self". Each blood test my meds were increased until I leveled out. So hang in there - it does get better!
