Hi Ibesmama,

I can only tell you what I'm going through right now. I've been diagnosed as HYPERthyroidism. I've been taking medicine to slow my thyroid down. Two weeks ago I found out that we, the doctor and me, have slowed it down too much--now HYPO- Now, I'm taking less MGs of drug in order to balance it out and beginning this last Wednesday, Sept 15, I feel like I'm back in fourth gear with the brake on (back to HYPER). I'm going to call my doctor tomorrow. I'm here tonight, looking for support for those who are HYPERthyroid suffers.

I know how you feel, I'm hyper too. I'm just now starting to feel human again. It would be so nice not to have to deal with the racing heartbeat and the shaky hands. My endocrinologist increased my medication and that helped a little. He's probably going to increase it again after he gets the results from this last batch of blood tests.

Another "hyper" chiming in. I was on 400mg of PTU to slow down my thyroid. Right before my endo decreased my meds to 300mg (2 weeks ago) I was feeling sluggish and my hair started falling out much more than it had ever before. Anyway, I'm just beginning to feel a bit better on the reduced dose. I guess this is going to be neverending!!!

It is nice to know there's some place you can go (this board) where everyone understands what's we're going through!

Hi Michelle - unfortunately, it sounds like that's the way it is for a lot of people. I don't experience that myself but it sounds like a lot of you do. It's just such a delicate balance. Hopefully, one day, you'll have that teeter-totter leveled out!! Not hypo, not hyper, just normal!! Wow - what would that be like? Hugs, Cathy :)
