Doc increased Synthroid

Thanks for your responses to my previous post. I had my blood work done and the tests came back "normal" (the same numbers that showed when I was feeling 100%). This is somewhat disappointing because I was hoping to solve the problem. My doctor is increasing my Synthroid dose every other day to .075 though (alternating with .050). Most of my symptoms seem fairly common, but has anyone ever experienced a strange feeling in their lower esophogus (not burning - just uncomfortable, slightly nauseating) due to hypothyroid? Just checking... Thanks!

I've not experienced the uncomfortableness you describe but I have had difficulty swallowing, especially pills. If they're uncoated and round, they will get stuck every time. Whenever I get a prescription for anything, I ask the doctor what kind of pills they are. My pharmacist will even show me the pills before filling the prescription so I can determine if I'll be able to swallow them.

I hope the alternating dose of meds will help. I wish my doctor would give that a try.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Hi Babs. Wrong post ... my doctor won't increase my meds so I'm changing doctors. But that's for caring!

Hopefully, that little change in your medication will help you to feel better. It's amazing what a small amount will do. I had waves of nausia - not like anything else I've ever experienced. My doctor thought it might be some of the vitamins I was taking and recommended that I stop taking them. I reluctantly have done so and the nausia quit. When I went back to taking some of them, it came back! So either there's something in one of them that didn't bother me when I wasn't so hypo and now it is, or this is just a new reaction. I don't really know what to do because I feel strongly about taking them! I'm just giving the whole thing a rest right now. I hope you're feeling better soon. Cathy :)
