Background: Life seems to have changed since my last child was born. He's four now, and the first two years seemed okay. But, I breastfed him for 19 months, so maybe that masked a lot of things As soon as I stopped though, I started gaining weight. I kept thinking I was doing something different, even though I was doing the same things that I did before I had him - things that kept me at a size 6-8. Yet, in spite of eating a reasonable amount for me, and walking a few times a week at least I have gained 25 pounds in a little over two years, and the gain is speeding up! No matter what I do I cannot lose it.
I don't have problems with hair or fingernails, except my hair hasn't gotten any longer in years, but after a lifetime of always being too hot whevever I went, I find I need to wear a jacket around the house. If I sit down in the afternoon I am asleep in minutes. I"ve taken my temperature at various times of the day and it's always been least 1 degree Celcius below normal - according to my converter, that makes it 96.8 f.
I did have a basic check a few years ago because of miscarriages (I've had 6) and my GP pronouncd it 'within normal range' but since we decided to quit ttc, I never had the details tests the m/c doc requested. Oh, and I realised I should add, my cycles changed - went from 28 days exactly to 24-26 with occasional longer ones and I'm on day 9 of AF....and it should have stopped after 5.
I read a lot about coconut oil, and tried that. For a while it seemed to work, but I found I hate coconut oil. Ugh, gag.
So, you're the experts...any thoughts?

Hi CJ,
Thanks for coming on board and sharing.
I made an appointment today and went to see my doc. I have been putting it off for ages, for fear of not being listened to and sounding like I'm just getting older, lazy and eating too much and wanting to blame it on someone or something else. But he has scheduled me for basic tests next week, both thyroid and diabetes. I know they won't go beyond basic tests most likely and if it comes out 'normal' they probably won't persue it and I"ll ahve to go somewhere else, but I'll think about that if and when it happens.
I looked everywhere for my test results. My miscarriage stuff is the size of a small novel, but I didn't find it. I looked at it on teh computer at the doc and there were no numbers, it just said 'normal range'. How helpful is that?
Thanks for your help,
CJ
