Postpartum thyroiditis

I was diagnosed with postpartum thyroiditis a little over 2 weeks ago. My doctor put me on 50 mg of levothyroxine. Levels were checked again day before yesterday and TSH was 55 (even higher than it was two weeks ago). Now I am on 100 mg of levothyroxine and 2 5mcg Cytomel daily.

Does that sound reasonable?? Does Cytomel really help? I am worried it might be too much, especially since I was tested only 2 weeks after I started on 50mg. I feel SO crappy!

TIA!

Hi Lyndsie - It sounds like you have a very good doctor who isn't taking any chances and doesn't have a "wait and see" attitued, which I think is great. Hopefully, you will get you TSH level down to normal quickly and perhaps the whole condition will be pass. That would be the best possible outcome!! So I wouldn't worry about the dose that you're taking. Cathy :)
